KURZGESAGT 10TH ANNIVERSARY PLANS: Maulwurf Studio and Zeashia are making a DUCK FURSUIT HEAD (Head ref. TBA)

 We'd like to announce that Maulwurf Studio and Zeashia are (sort of) BACK in the costume-making business! Their first fursuit is from our favorite (and possibly prized) science channel "Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell", a simple fursuit head of Duck. Duck is a fun and cute mascot of theirs and knowing that absolutely NO ONE has made a single Kurzgesagt cosplay of neither Duck or any character from their channel for that matter, that leaves us, The MARUNOKO Project to make that achievement possible! Beginning sometime next week, we should be able to gather at least a couple things for the head and only the head. Duck requires a basic "bucket head" technique to build the structure making him ridiculously easy to fabricate. He also requires only two fabric colors, making shopping for materials a piece of proverbial cake. His eyes may be tad difficult, yet feasible. Our deadline is set to July 9th, the date of Kurzgesagt's 10th anniversary. We may make a video then, but we may also try to make videos of our progress on Duck. Wish us the best of luck on this fursuit head!

MARUNOKO UPDATE: ALL DONE! (we apologize for the not-so-good quality photos)

After two and a half weeks of planning and crafting, our Marunoko plush is finally complete! His head is removable but Maulwurf Studio prefers to leave it on for "cuddling". Marunoko's head is 3D printed with a silvery shiny filament, along with a dog nose made with white filament. We went for a more natural look instead of a smile but once we placed the head on the body, he just looked "concerned". Maulwurf Studio seemed to like it a lot, however. Overall, everyone is happy with how the project went!

OPEN SPECIES page updated again (we now have a Mother Skyhook concept drawing)

MARUNOKO UPDATE: We got a (prototype) head!

Last night, we received a prototype of our 3D printed saw head! Maulwurf Studio created a neck for Marunoko and attached the head with pins. She also created an irresistibly cute face (which she taped on). The final saw head will be printed sometime next week and possibly velcro'd onto the neck so it can be detachable (Maulwurf and Zeashia are planning on using the plush for stop-motion films in the future).

(SKYHOOK UPDATE): Skyhook is a "mother-to-be"!

Notice anything different? Our Skyhook has a womb! We took some adorable photoshoots featuring her pre-constructed tetherlings (baby skyhooks). Anthropomorphized Skyhook page is up and running! (may update page frequently, if new ideas come up)

 We did it! We successfully created an open "anthro" species based on our favorite megastructure! We hope you find our new guide useful in creating new and exciting sci-fi characters!

 We are having a difficult time gathering information on our “open species” page. We currently ran into a few errors and most of our data had been deleted, prompting us to start over from the beginning. So, it’s going to be a little while longer until we have our page up and running. We apologize for any inconveniences.

(CONCEPT ART): “Skyhook Anthro” by Maulwurf Studio

 We’re posting our first piece of art by Maulwurf Studio, a concept drawing of an anthropomorphic Skyhook. According to the artist, herself, this Skyhook in particular draws many attributes and characteristics from our colossal plush, but also adds a few references from some of our favorite Sci-for franchises (especially Star Fox). We’re still working on our “anthropomorphized Skyhooks” page. This technically counts as a sneak peek. We apologize if you do not like spoilers.

SKYHOOK UPDATE: Skyhook is "Slumber-Party" ready! (+ SNEAK PEEK FOR GUIDE TO ANTHROPOMORPHIZED SKYHOOKS)

Skyhook is "Slumber-Party" ready with an adorably comfy set of Mars themed Pajamas and matching Blanket/Pillow set, lovingly handcrafted by Maulwurf Studio.

Her headband also serves as a blindfold for "sleepy time".

Her cable is coiled up to fit within the area of her blanket.

She has socks!

Her pajamas are nice and cozy. They keep her warm from the frigid winds of Mars.

Her pajamas come with pockets, too, but can only hold so much at a time. We put her scarf in there just in case Maulwurf Studio wanted to put it on Skyhook again later.

We don't exactly know what these are but we thought they were a nice touch.

She's sleeping...

She could probably use a blanket.

Her pillow can either be used for her head or something for her to hug (such as a body pillow).

(POSSIBLE SPOILER) We positioned her this way to indicate that she had a "stomachache". Maulwurf Studio will elaborate this concept of anthropomorphization further in another post or page. 

 

We gave Marunoko some stockings! (STILL AWAITING SAW HEAD...)

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!: KURZGESAGT IS TURNING 10 ON JULY 9TH!

 We got news from Maulwurf Studio, the Kurzgesagt superfan of the team, that our favorite channel is turning 10 years old on the 9th of July. We'll be celebrating this event in the most "Kurzgesagt" way possible by showing our appreciation for the beloved channel and all the amazing topics they've discussed throughout the decade. This, indeed, includes our most favorite... Skyhooks! We'll be anticipating your 10th "birb-day" Kurzgesagt! We love you and keep up the good work!

We will also be creating a "wardrobe" for our Skyhook!

 While we're designing clothing for Marunoko, we will also be designing clothes for the Skyhook. We enjoy giving our characters extra layers of personality. So far, we've found one pattern that is compatible with the Skyhook plush, a pattern for a simple dress.

MARUNOKO UPDATE: Crafting additional Accessories for Nokogiri Dog plush toy

We will be crafting additional accessories for this plush toy! It was a fun idea by Maulwurf Studio to give Marunoko a little extra "personality" from each member of our team. We may not post for a bit as we will be a little busy fabricating these accessories for Marunoko, but we'll be sure to post a little a few photos throughout the process.

MARUNOKO UPDATE: We've figured out how to brush the fur

 It's quite simple, actually! Maulwurf happened to have a hairbrush compatible with short faux fur and stroked the fluff until the pattern flowed nicely. We'll have photos ready much later once our machine is powered back up (we're running low on battery right now).

NOKOGIRI DOG “Marunoko” plush toy body COMPLETE, now proceeding to fabricate saw head

The plush body was a success! We’ve added a few features to make it as realistic as possible. The plush body measures up to about the size of a full grown Maltipoo (Maulwurf Studio’s dog for scale). The fur still needs to be brushed, however but other than that, we’d say the body of the dog came out quite nicely! We’ll have to wait a week or two to receive the saw head, as Maulwurf Studio is in charge of designing that part of the plush and right now, she is currently on a short vacation. For now, Marunoko remains headless, yet therapeutically cuddly.
